Reports of Assault on Canadian Tourist in Dublin
Raidió Teilifís Éireann, the Irish public broadcaster, had previously reported that a Canadian tourist from Montreal was assaulted in Dublin on June 23 and subsequently passed away at Mater Hospital. However, the details of this report have not been confirmed by Global Affairs Canada, and independent verification regarding the victim’s origin is pending.
Upon reaching out to the Irish police in Dublin for confirmation of the RTE report, it was revealed that an investigation is ongoing regarding the assault of a man in his 40s who later succumbed to his injuries at Mater Hospital. While his nationality remains undisclosed, four arrests have been made in connection with the incident, with two individuals facing charges before the Criminal Courts of Justice.
Further details are restricted due to the legal proceedings, but the authorities assured that investigations are actively continuing.
